In May 2023, a collegial group of BAACG members old and new met at the state of the art new facility of Gawain Weaver Art Conservation. While strolling through the extensively renovated 5000 square foot building, photograph conservator Gawain Weaver and his staff showed us samples of their current and recent projects, including several Ansel Adams gelatin silver prints. The tour ended with a review of their fascinating method for the safe lifting of the image layer from the deteriorated base of cellulose acetate negatives. After the tour, we shared a meal and stories at nearby Rancho Nicasio. All told, an informative afternoon with wonderful colleagues.
