About the event
Adolph Sutro, the famed San Francisco entrepreneur, mayor, and philanthropist, collected books, manuscripts, and antiquarian maps to create a public research collection for the city of San Francisco and beyond. BAACG members have now been invited to join the Hand Bookbinders of California and Friends of Calligraphy for a private curated viewing of select manuscripts, incunabula, codices, fine bindings, and other artifacts in the Sutro Library collection, housed at San Francisco State University in the J. Paul Leonard Library (Sutro Library). This curated visit is by special arrangement. Normally, access is limited to visiting scholars.
