About the event
Join your fellow BAACG members to witness the fine art and craft of mountmaking from an insider's perspective and to hear, among other things, how mountmakers balance the concerns of conservators with the wishes of clients. This is an online zoom event, but will be followed in May by an in- person tour of Fordham and Associates. (Limited participants. Date and details of Part 2 TBD).

About our speakers:
Denise Fordham was principle mountmaker for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco from 1981 to 1997, where she was responsible for the design and construction of custom mounts and the installation of three-dimensional objects for large-scale exhibitions. Now Principal of Fordham and Associates, Denise and her team specialize in art and artifact mounting for seismic mitigation and provide consultation on pedestal design and exhibition installation for museums, private collectors, conservators, galleries and artists.
Harvey Newman has been a wood and metal fabricator specializing in fine art since 2007. While pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute, he began training as a conservation technician at the Walt Disney Family Museum (WDFM) in San Francisco, California. He concurrently worked as a preparator for the Museum and eventually took over the role of Chief Preparator for WDFM in 2015. Newman left in 2018 to start his own independent fabrication business that is best known for creating custom mounts, museum-quality cases, and exhibition accessories while providing other fine art services for California museums and private clients.
