Framing Symposium Sunday, 13 April 2008 1 2:30 to 4pm (Please note date change. The event has been moved to a Sunday allowing greaterparticipation of picture framers.) at Arcadia, 680 8th Street, San Francisco, 94103
|
This half-day framing symposium is offered in honor Paul Frederick, framer and long-time supporter of BAACG and the PPFA. It will bring together framing professionals and conservators to discuss issues of common concern. Many picture framers are presented with projects requiring the assistance of an art conservator. These projects range from framing works on paper, canvas, textiles and objects of all types. Many framers have not had the opportunity to develop understanding of the conservation resources available to them and their clients. Attendees are invited to bring examples of art and framing to facilitate conversation and questions. Do not miss this opportunity to help framers identify qualified projects and set client expectations for art preservation. A light lunch and refreshments will be served at 12:30 with the symposium to follow at 1:00pm. To register for the event email Michael Graves by April 9th at mvgraves@arcadiaframing.com BAACG members who are unable to attend this event but are interested in working more with framers and their clients are welcome to send a business cards and brochures to Michael at Arcadia (address above) for distribution.

| Faculte.Com A New Tool To Enhance Your Practice DATE/TIME: Thursday, April 23rd, 5:30pm LOCATION: Arcadia, 680 8th St, San Francisco, CA 94103 |
Please join us for a presentation
from Candis Griggs Hakim on Faculte.Com. Faculte is an online multi
media tool that
lets you easily communicate with clients before, during, or after a treatment.
With Faculte you can narrate and annotate photos of an object, point
out condition issues, offer treatment options, or just provide a more
thorough description of your finished work. It is an excellent alternative
to a traditional portfolio or resume, easily shared (with no downloading
by the client) with anyone with an Internet connection. The company that
developed Faculte.Com was co-founded by Maher Hakim, whose conservator
wife Candis Griggs Hakim discovered it made an excellent addition to
her private practice "tools". There is no charge to BAACG members and their guests to attend this presentation. To register for the presentation, please email Michael Graves at mvgraves@arcadiaframing.com or phone 415.551.1238 by April 20th. |
